Once home to a multinational community of late-19th-century immigrant families, this recently renovated conventilol-style house continues to welcome visitors from all around the globe, maintaining the tradition of a hodge-podge of languages that inspired the hotel's name. Located on one of San Telmo's characteristic cobbled streets within easy walking distance of Plaza Dorrego, this inti¬mate lodging has all the charm and personalised attention of a guesthouse. The nine air-conditioned, Wi-Fi-equipped rooms surround a small patio and are compact and pared-down. There's a retro air about the discreet decor, and the prevalence of dark wood - a motif rhoughout the hotel - adds warmth. Flat-screen televisions and chic ceramic sanitary-ware add a touch of sophistication, and in the modest bar and lounge área, you can browse an eclectic selection of books or con¬témplate the artwork on sale while the obliging staff prepares your tipple of choice. A great breakfast is included in the room rate: wake up to fresh facturas (sweet pastries), with coffee, yoghurts and fruit juices, or opt for scrambled eggs and toast.
