The Mansión Vitraux Hotel is conveniently located for exploring and enjoying the very heart of historical Buenos Aires, San Telmo, as well as the city’s main attractions.
This neighbourhood has a reputation as Buenos Aires’ bohemian quarter, and likes to think of itself as the haunt of artists, radicals, independence, heroes, painters and poets; and it is true.
Its narrow cobblestone streets, many of which still keep their colonial touch, played host to several national heroes of the Independence as well as to urban heroes such as Esteban de Luca, poet and patriot, whose house, situated next to the site where Mansión Vitraux is located today, was one of the bases of local people “criollos” resistance against the British Invasions of the Rio de la Plata back in 1805 and 1806.
Mansión Vitraux has an exquisite convenient location, surrounded by visual richness and picturesque beauty. It is one of the City of Buenos Aires's most historic districts, with a blend of tradition, colonial legacy and cultural concentration. Street markets, colonial churches and buildings, museums, established art dealers, chic restaurants, antique shops, street artists, give the neighbourhood a living splash of eclecticism; part of the rich and vibrant atmosphere of San Telmo, which is sensitively translated into The Mansión Vitraux Hotel's interior.
Few steps down to the river side you can find Puerto Madero with its Casino, restaurants, bars and promenades. Close to Mansión Vitraux you can also find the financial district, the Obelisco, the Teatro Colon, the Teatro Avenida, Plaza de Mayo, the “Cabildo”, the Casa de Gobierno (Casa Rosada) and the Cathedral of Buenos Aires, all of them “must-see” in your visit to the Capital City of Argentina.
The famous “La Boca” is also closed to Mansión Vitraux.
One of the most picturesque areas in the city, the so-called "Piccola Italia” (Little Italy) is stamped with Mediterranean style from its typical restaurants "cantinas" to its architecture. Brightly painted multicoloured houses, inhabited by many different families, the so called "conventillos", its colourful port setting and the corrugated roof style of its houses, give La Boca its main characteristic. La Boca is also home to the “Boca Juniors Club Stadium” and its well-known Museum. The stadium is famous not only for the football matches (soccer) but also for its architecture. The neighbourhood was also home to the famous painter Quinquela Martín and other immortal artists.
