Cardiff, the Capital of Wales, is a vibrant city, with its historic buildings, castle, theatres, the world renowned Millennium Stadium and it's night life. The city is often referred to as the party capital of the UK!
For shoppers, the Victorian arcades are filled with interesting shops and boutiques, whilst the main shopping complexes boast all the usual high street names in flagship stores. It is only a matter of months before much anticipated St. David's 2 Shopping Centre is complete, offering more than 100 new shops, 25 new cafes and restaurants. You will be amazed at the choices available in the spectacular glass grand arcade.
You never know what you might find in Cardiff!
Doctor Who Up Close Cardiff – the phenomenally popular exhibition showcasing Doctor Who props, costumes and monsters at the Red Dragon Centre, Cardiff Bay – was recently named the number one attraction in Cardiff. You could just happen to stumble across The Doctor on one of the city streets transformed into some alien world for the filming of another episode of Doctor Who. Check the Doctor Who news on the Net.
Spend an evening in some of Wales's finest restaurants located in the city or in the vibrant Cardiff Bay, then go on to party the night away within the lively bars and clubs of the bubbling gay scene. It’s unfair to mention any specific one, but it is fair to point out that The Golden Cross, a listed traditional pub was voted the best gay pub in the UK and was the highest rated pub in the '2005 top 100 places in Cardiff to visit'. Check out the magnificent tiles around the bar.
In the heart of the city you will also find Cardiff Castle and just a short drive from the centre of the capital will take you to the fairytale Castle Coch and the leaning tower at Caerphilly Castle, which boasts a greater angle of lean than the famous 'Leaning Tower' of Pisa.
Venture Out
The breathtaking Brecon Beacons, Welsh borders of the Black Mountains and the picturesque, world renowned book town called Hay on Wye are all within easy travelling distance.
Travelling west, along the coast locally to Penarth and Barry Island or further on to Swansea and the Gower Peninsular you will see some of the worlds most spectacular coastlines. Further west is the the quintessential sea side town of Tenby and historic city of St Davids. If theme parks are your thing, then Oakwood Park is also worth a visit. You could always pop along to Llanddewi Brefi where Dafydd is the only gay in the village (apparently).
Travelling east you will find the city of Newport with Tredegar House, a National Trust property nestled in acres of parkland. Continue further on to the Roman fort town of Caerleon and then on to Tintern Abbey with its famous abbey ruins and beautiful surrounding village. On your way back towards Ty Rosa B&B you can visit the old market town of Abergavenny which is steeped in ancient history and folklore.
With so many things to see and do, why not reserve your accommodation? »
